Progression Markers for Cognitive Impairment in Parkinson's Disease Dementia (R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
Funding Opportunity PAS-19-210 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. This purpose of this FOA is to identify risk factors for dementia progression in PDD. Applicants must have access to well-characterized populations of PDD patients that have been followed longitudinally that they can continue to follow with clinical assessments and biospecimen collection until autopsy. Research should propose to identify clinical, pathological and/or biospecimen factors that predict which patients will develop cognitive impairment and/or dementia.

Emerging Infectious Diseases Research Centers (U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
Funding Opportunity RFA-AI-19-028 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to establish a coordinated network of Emerging Infectious Disease Research Centers (EIDRCs) in regions around the globe where emerging and re-emerging infectious disease outbreaks are likely to occur. Multidisciplinary teams of investigators will conduct pathogen/host surveillance, study pathogen transmission, pathogenesis and immunologic responses in the host, and will develop reagents and diagnostic assays for improved detection for important emerging pathogens and their vectors.

Geroscience Approaches to Alzheimer's Disease (R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
Funding Opportunity RFA-AG-20-013 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications proposing research on the specific role of aging biology in the development, etiology and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Aging is by far the main risk factor for most chronic diseases, a fact recognized by the field of geroscience. Recent advances in the fields of basic aging biology and geroscience now allow researchers to address mechanistically the role of aging in Alzheimers disease. Applications that make use of geroscience principles and test the role of different hallmarks of aging biology are specifically appropriate, while those focused solely on aging biology, or solely on Alzheimers disease will be deemed unresponsive to the FOA.

Limited Competition: NIGMS Legacy Community-Wide Scientific Resources (R24 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
Funding Opportunity PAR-19-208 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support important "legacy" resources developed as a result of NIGMS research activities that are central to the mission of NIGMS and demonstrate a high value to a community of researchers that NIGMS supports, but are no longer eligible for support under their original initiatives. It is also expected that these resources are not eligible for support by other Institutes'/Centers' funding opportunity announcements, and not yet self-sustaining or ready for commercialization. For this initiative, a resource is defined as a non-hypothesis-driven activity that is available to any qualified investigator and provides data, materials, tools, or services considered essential to making the most timely, high quality, and cost-efficient progress in a field. This funding opportunity is designed to support the continuation of existing resources, not to develop new ones. The support requested must be for funding of maintenance activities only, and not for research activities. Under this limited program, only NIGMS-sponsored "legacy" resources that cannot be renewed under their initial funding activity are eligible. Up to three years' support can be requested while plans to transition to a more permanent form of support are implemented.
