NIAID Clinical Trial Implementation Cooperative Agreement (U01 Clinical Trial Required)

Tue, 2018-02-06 10:07
Funding Opportunity PAR-18-633 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages cooperative agreement applications for implementation of investigator-initiated, high-risk clinical trials and mechanistic studies associated with high-risk clinical trials. Mechanistic work in clinical trials may be of great value because it promotes the understanding of human diseases and the development of future therapeutic modalities. Investigators are encouraged to visit the NIAID website for additional information about the research mission and high-priority research areas of the NIAID (https://www.niaid.nih.gov/research/role). Only one clinical trial may be proposed in each NIAID Clinical Trial Implementation Cooperative Agreement (U01) application.

NIAID SBIR Phase II Clinical Trial Implementation Cooperative Agreement (U44 Clinical Trial Required)

Tue, 2018-02-06 10:07
Funding Opportunity PAR-18-632 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant applications from small business concerns (SBCs) that propose to implement investigator-initiated clinical trials related to the research mission of the NIAID. This program provides support for hypothesis-driven, milestone-driven clinical trials. Although clinical trials not considered high-risk may be proposed, this program encourages high-risk clinical studies. High-risk does not imply human subject or patient risk, but rather defines a study that contains one or more of the following unique features: involves non-routine interventions, administration of an unlicensed product, or administration of a licensed product for an unapproved indication. Mechanistic studies are also encouraged and can be proposed under this program. However, not more than one clinical trial should be proposed within each application. The NIAID has a robust infrastructure for conducting clinical studies that includes independently managed resources provided through grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts, as well as resources that are integrated within existing NIAID-supported clinical trial networks. Proposed clinical trials may use NIAIDs independent infrastructure for clinical studies, however, support will not be provided for studies that propose to use dedicated resources that are part of a NIAID-supported clinical trial network.

NEI Academic Research Enhancement Award for Mechanistic and Minimal Risk Human Subjects' Research (R15 Clinical Trial Optional)

Tue, 2018-02-06 08:39
Funding Opportunity PA-18-635 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of the Academic Research Enhancement Award (AREA) program is to stimulate research in educational institutions that provide baccalaureate or advanced degrees for a significant number of the Nation's research scientists, but that have not been major recipients of NIH support. AREA grants create opportunities for scientists and institutions otherwise unlikely to participate extensively in NIH research programs to contribute to the Nation's biomedical and behavioral research effort. AREA grants are intended to support small-scale research projects proposed by faculty members of eligible, domestic institutions, to expose undergraduate and/or graduate students to meritorious research projects, and to strengthen the research environment of the applicant institution.

Dementia Care and Caregiver Support Interventions (R01 - Clinical Trial Required)

Mon, 2018-02-05 12:52
Funding Opportunity RFA-AG-18-030 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The over-arching purpose of this FOA is to help to lay the groundwork for pragmatic trials and real-world implementation of Alzheimers disease and related dementias (ADRD) care and caregiving interventions by supporting early-Stage (Stage I, II, III of the NIH Stage Model) behavioral intervention development clinical trials aimed at adapting/modifying interventions for the real world, examining the principles underlying these interventions, developing methods to ensure real-world fidelity of delivery, and developing training procedures for the people in the community who will be delivering the interventions.

NIMH Biobehavioral Research Awards for Innovative New Scientists (NIMH BRAINS) (R01 Clinical Trial Optional)

Mon, 2018-02-05 02:43
Funding Opportunity RFA-MH-19-130 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The NIMH Biobehavioral Research Awards for Innovative New Scientists (BRAINS) award is intended to support the research and research career advancement of outstanding, exceptionally productive scientists who are in the early, formative stages of their careers and who plan to make a long term career commitment to research in specific mission areas of the NIMH. This award seeks to assist these individuals in launching an innovative clinical, translational, basic or services research program that holds the potential to profoundly transform the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of mental disorders. The NIMH BRAINS program will focus on the research priorities and gap areas identified in the NIMH Strategic Plan and the Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) project.

NIBIB Exploratory Clinical Trials for Small Business (R44 Clinical Trial Required)

Mon, 2018-02-05 02:18
Funding Opportunity PA-18-631 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to provide a vehicle for Small Business Concerns (SBCs) submitting Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant applications for investigator-initiated exploratory clinical trials to the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). This Funding Opportunity Announcement requires that at least 1 clinical trial be proposed. The proposed project must be related to the programmatic interests of the NIBIB. For this Funding Opportunity Announcement, the NIBIB will only support SBIR applications proposing early-stage clinical trials through Phase I, first-in-human, safety, feasibility or other small clinical trials that inform early-stage technology development. The NIBIB will not support applications proposing Phase II, III, IV or pivotal clinical trials or trials in which the primary outcome is efficacy, effectiveness or a post-market concern.

NeuroNEXT Small Business Innovation in Clinical Trials (U44 Clinical Trial Optional)

Mon, 2018-02-05 01:45
Funding Opportunity PAR-18-628 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages small business applications for exploratory clinical trials of investigational agents (drugs, biologics, surgical therapies or devices) that may contribute to the justification for and provide the data required for designing clinical studies. Diseases chosen for study should be based on the NINDS' strategic plan and clinical research interests (www.ninds.nih.gov/funding/areas/index.htm).

Integration of Imaging and Fluid-Based Tumor Monitoring in Cancer Therapy (R01 Clinical Trial Optional)

Mon, 2018-02-05 01:23
Funding Opportunity PA-18-629 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. Through this funding opportunity announcement (FOA), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) seeks research project (R01) grant applications describing projects that integrate imaging and fluid-based tumor monitoring (liquid biopsy) assays during cancer therapy in patients to determine the optimal use of those modalities in the characterization of therapy response and/or emergence of resistance.

Investigator Initiated Extended Clinical Trial (R01 Clinical Trial Required)

Mon, 2018-02-05 01:10
Funding Opportunity PAR-18-630 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications for implementation of investigator-initiated clinical trials requiring an extended project period of 6 or 7 years. The trials can be any phase, must be hypothesis-driven, and related to the research mission of one of the participating ICs. Consultation with IC staff is strongly encouraged prior to the submission of the clinical trial implementation application. This FOA is not intended for support of clinical trials that do not require an extended project period of 6 or 7 years.
