Thu, 2019-02-28 02:22
Funding Opportunity PA-19-201 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of this FOAs are to encourage mechanistic research to investigate the impact of sleep disturbances on chronic pain. The mechanisms and processes underlying the contribution of sleep disturbances to chronic pain development and maintenance may be very broad. This FOA encourages interdisciplinary collaborations by experts from multiple fieldsneuroscientists, psychologists, endocrinologists, immunologists, geneticists, pharmacologists, chemists, physicists, behavioral scientists, clinicians, caregivers, and others in relevant fields of inquiry.

Funding Opportunity PA-19-200 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of this FOA is to encourage mechanistic research to investigate the impact of sleep disturbances on pain. The mechanisms and processes underlying the contribution of sleep and sleep disturbances to pain perception and the development and maintenance of chronic pain may be very broad. This FOA encourages interdisciplinary research collaborations by experts from multiple fieldsneuroscientists, psychologists, endocrinologists, immunologists, geneticists, pharmacologists, chemists, physicists, behavioral scientists, clinicians, caregivers, and others in relevant fields of inquiry.

Limited Competition: NEI - DOD Vision Research Collaborative (R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Thu, 2019-02-28 02:15
Funding Opportunity PAR-19-203 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to establish a joint initiative between the National Eye Institute (NEI) and the Vision Research Program (Vision Research Program) of the Department of Defense (DOD). Through this FOA, the NEI will support meritorious VRP proposals that were unable to be funded by the DOD.

Centers of Excellence in Genomic Science (RM1 Clinical Trials Optional)

Thu, 2019-02-28 02:03
Funding Opportunity PAR-19-204 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The Centers of Excellence in Genomic Science (CEGS) program establishes academic Centers for advanced genome research. Each CEGS award supports a multi-investigator, interdisciplinary team to develop transformative genomic approaches to address a biomedical problem. A CEGS project will address a critical issue in genomic science or genomic medicine, proposing a highly innovative solution that would be a major advance. The research will entail substantial risk, balanced by outstanding scientific and management plans and very high potential payoff. A CEGS will focus on the development of novel technological or computational methods for the production or analysis of comprehensive data sets, on a genome-scale biomedical problem, or on other ways to develop and use genomic approaches for understanding biological systems or furthering the application of genomic knowledge, data, and methods towards clinical applications. Each CEGS will nurture genomic science at its institution by facilitating the interaction of investigators from several disciplines. By training new and experienced investigators it will expand the pool of genomics scientists and engineers.

Understanding the Mechanisms of Neuropsychiatric Side Effects and Neurological Toxicities of HIV Medicines (R21 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Wed, 2019-02-27 11:31
Funding Opportunity RFA-MH-20-115 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites innovative research grant applications focused on identifying potential mechanisms and risk factors underlying HIV treatment associated neuropsychiatric symptoms and neurological toxicities experienced by some people living with HIV infection. Exploratory and high-risk research projects that may lead to identification of targets for therapeutic interventions or personalized medicine are appropriate for this FOA. Basic and preclinical research in domestic and international settings are of interest. Multidisciplinary research teams and collaborative alliances are encouraged but not required.

High impact, Interdisciplinary Science in NIDDK Research Areas (RC2 Clinical Trial Optional)

Wed, 2019-02-27 03:02
Funding Opportunity PAR-19-202 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of the High Impact, Interdisciplinary Science grants program is to support high impact ideas that may lay the foundation for new fields of investigation within the mission of NIDDK. The interdisciplinary approach encouraged by this FOA is envisioned to generate a research resource and/or foster discovery-based or hypothesis-generating science that can have a significant impact on the broader scientific community. This FOA seeks novel approaches in areas that address specific knowledge gaps, scientific opportunities, new technologies, data generation, or research methods that will advance the area in significant ways designed to accelerate scientific progress in the understanding, treatment and prevention of diseases within the mission of NIDDK.

Modulating Intestinal Microbiota to Enhance Protective Immune Responses against Cancer (R21 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Wed, 2019-02-27 01:11
Funding Opportunity PAR-19-199 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support research which can elucidate mechanism(s) of action by which gut microbes inhibit or enhance anti-tumor immune responses. Thus, research projects should be focused on delineating how specific microbes or their metabolites target host immune responses to prevent colitis-associated or sporadic tumor formation.

Modulating Intestinal Microbiota to Enhance Protective Immune Responses against Cancer (R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Wed, 2019-02-27 01:11
Funding Opportunity PAR-19-198 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts.

Neuropathological Assessment of TBI-related Neurodegeneration and Neurocognitive decline - Center Without Walls (NATBI CWOW) (U54 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Mon, 2019-02-25 12:57
Funding Opportunity RFA-NS-19-030 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. This FOA invites applications for a multisite study to comprehensively characterize the neuropathological features associated with neurodegeneration and neurocognitive decline in persons with a history of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Investigations should elucidate the contribution of key individual (sex, age at time of injury, time since injury, etc) and injury characteristics (injury severity and frequency) to describe associations between neuropathological burden and antemortem clinicopathologic symptoms, and outline the prevalence of TBI-related parkinsonism, TBI-related Alzheimers, and CTE in the participating brain banks. To further advance research in the area, broad sharing of clinical and neuropathological data will be a critical feature of this FOA including the development of a digital resource for distribution and sharing of assessed neuropathological tissue.
